        April 26th, 2008 by Jeanie

        Repelle Skin Shield Wand

If you’re like me and sometimes try to attempt coloring your own hair, only to end up with that awful hairline color stain, then you need to get the Repelle Skin Shield Wand. Repelle will make hair coloring alot easier.  Goes on smooth and wipes off easily.  Contains vitamins and minerals as well as Pretectin-22 which is the ingredient that repelles the hair dye.  It’s only about $5 and can be purchased at most drugstores.

        Good-bye to Unwanted Hair

        January 28th, 2008 by Jeanie

There are many methods of getting rid of unwanted body hair such as waxing, sugaring, tweezing, threading, photolight hair removal, laser hair removal, electrolysis and the epilar system - which epilar has worked for me - there has been very little regrowth and it’s been well over a year since i used it.  I’m sure if i continued the treatment it would be completely gone. Here’s the post incase you want to check it out. For the epilar treatment however you do need to go to a spa offering this since it cannot be purchased for home use.  Typically costs will be slightly less then having a laser done but more treatments will be needed and of course no chance of scarring.

If you are looking for a more permanent method of hair removal you may want to do electrolysis.  In order for hair to be permanently removed - gone forever - the hair bulb needs to be destroyed and electrolysis is considered to be the only method of permanent hair removal.  There are three methods: Galvanic, which uses a direct current and causes chemical decomposition of the hair follicle; Thermolysis, which uses high frequency to produce heat to destory the follicle; or Blend, which is a combination of both systems and sends an electric current through a fine needle.  Electrolysis can also be done in the privacy of your home if you don’t want to go to a spa and pay which can get costly over several treatments.  The Verseo ePen makes this easy and inexpensive.  Using the same technology used by professionals in the beauty industry it safely removes hair from lip, face, bikini, back and pretty much anywhere — it may ouch a little but just think no more hair!

        Threading Hair Removal

        October 30th, 2007 by Jeanie

        thread_spool.jpg

I’m not sure if alot of you are familiar with threading as a hair removal technique.  But I wanted to mention it because when I was in Esthetician school an Asian classmate turned me onto it.  It was something she had actually taught herself many years ago and after I decided to have my lip hair threaded by her I knew I would never go back to waxing my upper lip again.

So what is threading and how does it work?  Basically the licensed esthetician or practitioner uses a good length of cotton thread and holds one end in her teeth and the other in one hand. The middle is then looped through the index and middle fingers of the free hand. The loop is the part of the thread that grabs and pulls the unwanted hairs from the skin.  Hair removal is quick and slightly stinging from the hairs being pulled out but very clean.  I had no redness or irritation that you may get from waxing.

Recommended for upper lip and eyebrows but I’m not sure how well this would work on other parts of the body.  I would probably say to stick with waxing for legs, underarms and other larger areas. Results with threading can also last longer then waxing.

        Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion

Don’t like to wash your hair everyday?  There are some days when I just don’t feel like washing my hair and those are usually the days that I need too.  Some of us tend to have an oilier scalp which causes our hair to look oily and feel greasy… not very attractive, especially if you have somewhere important to be.

An easy solution for this is Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion.  Just sprinkle on the powder, which transforms to a liquid lotion, on the hair’s part line and instantly have clean, fresh hair.  The powder made from acacia gum and kaolin clayon absorbs the oil and increases the diameter of the hair shaft giving hair more volume and a matte texture.

        Lash & Brow

        June 9th, 2007 by Jeanie

        lash_brow.jpg

Long beautiful eyelashes and full glamorous eyebrows are not something most of us women were born with but now with the introduction of semi-permanent eyelash extensions there was finally hope.  To take the lash and brow thing one step further there is now also eyelash transplant and eyebrow transplant surgery available.  To give you a quick overview hair follicles are basically taken from the back of your scalp and brought to the eyelash area or eyebrow to be transplanted. This surgery is beneficial to those suffering from Alopecia - which is loss of hair, congenital reasons, disease, plucking or undergoing chemotherapy or radiation.

Since this surgery requires specialized training and expertise only a handful of cosmetic and plastic surgeons are offering this new and popular service alongside their breast surgeries, liposuction and facelifts.

In Tuscon, Arizona Dr. Mikel Lo has added this unique service to his menu.    To find out more information on eyelash and eyebrow transplants visit Dr. Mikel Lo’s website at www.aboutfacescosmetic.com.

        P.S. Regular trimming required.
